Helpful windows tips that will save you time and pain
When you are backing up some files on your computer, please remember that it is very important where you store the backup after it is done. If you save the backup files on your local hard drive, there are more chances that the backup will be damage by some virus, the chances for damage are smaller if you store it on external disk and even smaller if you store it on another internet server. All you need is a secure server with fast FTP access, enough storage space and bandwidth for uploading and downloading and you good to go.
You should check the software and hardware for possible problems. Every Windows OS has a set of tools created to help you achieve this task. There are also other applications that were written to do checkups on software, hardware or both. Another issue you should be aware of is the Windows Registry.
It was design to keep various options of software and hardware parts. Many applications can help you clean it up (often after uninstalling program it left traces on the registry)
And tune up the system. You should be aware not to handle the registry by yourself if you don’t know what you doing. Delete or change part of the registry and your computer might stop working. Only advance users, who feel comfortable dealing with it, should try to handle it by themselves.
